Spider Bites is a pair of lip piercings which are placed very close to each other on the same side of the mouth just below the lower lip line to give the appearance of being bitten by a set of Spider's fangs. One of the most popular types of jewellery for this piercing is the Labret Stud. This is because the flat back of the stud is comfortable against the inside of the mouth. Titanium, Black PVD and 316L Surgical Steel are popular materials for these studs but they can cause wear to the gums over a long period of time so many people choose Bio-plast studs which are flexible and soft and cause less gum wear. Other popular choices of jewellery for Spider Bites Piercings are Horseshoes (Circular Barbells) and either Ball Closure or Segment Rings. There is a large variety of screw-fit add-on's to use with the studs and horseshoes such as gem balls, spikes and cones and clip-in add-on's for Ball Closure Rings. This piercing can be 1.2mm or 1.6mm gauge, the most common length for studs being 8mm and the most common size for Rings and Horseshoes being 10mm.
