The Tragus is the small curved section of cartilage which sticks out just in front of the opening of the ear. This is a very popular piercing and has many jewellery choices. The most popular jewellery is the flat backed stud (labret stud) as it is comfortable, looks very attractive, and a variety of different designs of tops are available to put on the stud such as gem balls, stars, flowers, cones. Rings and horseshoes can also be worn in the Tragus piercing. Black, silver or anodised coloured titanium, 9ct gold and Surgical Steel body jewellery is suitable for this piercing. Gem balls can be fitted to rings and horseshoes to enhance the look of the piercing. Stud lengths are very variable depending on the thickness of the Tragus, we recommend a slightly longer stud than the thickness of the Tragus to make cleaning easier and as the piercing can swell slightly during sleep. Common internal diameters for rings and horseshoes are 8mm and 10mm. 1.2mm is the most common gauge for this piercing. For more info on sizing please see our body jewellery sizing guide.
